2010 Cincinnati Reds Season Preview

The Reds will need some young arms on their staff to step up if they are going to contend this year. Aaron Harang and Bronson Arroyo are solid at best. Homer Bailey and Johnny Cueto have shown great promise but haven't established themselves as legitimate front of the rotation guys. The buzz of training camp has been Cuban defector Aroldis Chapman who will start the season in the minors. Expect to see him up soon.

The Reds have a decent lineup with established pros like Brandon Phillips, Scott Rolen and Joey Votto, but like their rotation they have a lot of young, very talented, unproven players. If outfielders Drew Stubbs and top prospect Jay Bruce can meet or exceed expectations they could be a contender.

As you can see it's all about potential for the Reds, which is why they have become a somewhat fashionable pick as a surprise team this year. I don't think it will happen, but they definitely have a bright future.
